Prisma Matrix Guidelines

Hey! Welcome to Prisma's Matrix server. This space is meant to be a safe space for queer people away from GAFAM, as well as provide alternatives to centralized services such as Telegram, Discord or Signal. These guidelines exist to keep the space safe and comfortable for everyone.

We also offer room hosting to anybody who would like to start their own project, with some safety and moderation guarantees, but doesn't want to create their own instance.

These complement our general Code of Conduct. 💜

The Basics

Basic Rules

This covers most things, but specifically:

  • Don't harass people or make them uncomfortable
  • Don't be racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise bigoted
  • Don't spam or flood rooms (including excessive stickers/emojis)
  • Don't impersonate other people
  • Respect people's boundaries. If someone asks you to stop messaging them, stop

Room Etiquette

  • Try to keep conversations on topic for the room you're in
  • If you're not sure where something belongs, just ask!
  • NSFW content stays in NSFW rooms only
  • Don't send NSFW stuff to people in DMs without asking first
  • CSAM is strictly forbidden. Any user sharing, requesting, or possessing such material will be permanently banned immediately with no appeal

No Generative AI Content

  • AI generated images, art, or videos are forbidden unless specified otherwise

We value human interaction and therefore GenAI and the culture around it is forbidden in our rooms. We allow it in DMs if the interaction is consensual.

Technical Stuff

Files and Links

  • Don't share malware or links to malicious sites (obviously)
  • Large files are fine, but be reasonable. If it's huge, maybe use an external host

Privacy

  • Don't share people's personal info without consent
  • Don't share private conversations or screenshots publicly without permission
  • Be smart about your own privacy too

Account Stuff

Usernames and Avatars

  • Pick something that's not offensive or impersonating someone else
  • Keep your avatar appropriate for the rooms you're in (NSFW avatars = NSFW rooms only)
  • We're federated with other Matrix servers. Respect their rules when you're in their spaces. If we receive reports that one of our users is breaking rules in another homeserver, be sure that our moderation bots Ramiel and Arael will be there waiting for you.

Multiple Accounts

  • Having multiple accounts is fine (personal/work separation, plural people)
  • Don't use them to evade bans or manipulate conversations

What Happens If You Break the Rules

We're not trying to be harsh, but sometimes we need to take action to keep the community safe:

  • Mute: Can't send messages in specific rooms temporarily
  • Kick: Kicked from a room. Do not try to enter back into the room without talking to a moderator first
  • Room Ban: Banned from a specific room
  • Server Ban: Banned from the whole Prisma Matrix server
  • Message Deletion: We might delete messages that break the rules

Usually we'll give warnings first unless something is really bad. We'll try to be reasonable and fair.

Appeals

If you think a moderation decision was unfair or you wish to apologize for your behavior, you can talk to the mods involved, or reach out to contact@prisma.moe, and we'll review it. Try not to harass the mods about it though.

Getting In

Registration: We use registration tokens to help keep bots and bad actors out. To get a token, message Thadah on Telegram.

Anti-bot check: Upon joining, to ensure you're human, your introduction must include the word sparkle.

We might say no for any reason. Please understand it is not personal.

Reporting Issues

If something or someone is making you uncomfortable or breaking these rules:

How to Report

Helpful info to include:

  • Username of the person (format: @username:prisma.moe)
  • What room/space it happened in
  • When it happened
  • What happened
  • Screenshots or message links if you have them

Updates to These Guidelines

If we need to change these rules, we'll announce it in the main rooms. We will try to make sure everyone knows so no one gets blindsided by the changes.
